The first African special stage is behind!

For the first time this special stage of Africa Eco Race started straight in dunes of the erg Merzouga. This is a popular tourist place and therefore there were a lot of spectators and fans not only at the start but also during the first kilometers of the track. Moreover, people were waiting for us! There were owners of a small hotel, where the sportsmen рфв stayed last year during trainings in this region. The Moroccan came with “KAMAZ-master” scarves and welcomed heartily our crews.

Africa Eco Race.Stage 1

Rally-marathons seldom begin according to the planned scenario. Africa Eco Race is not an exception. Our arrival to Moroccan city Nador delayed, apart from that customs procedure passing delayed too. Therefore the race organizers came to the decision to cancel it for motorbikes and shorten it for cars. As a result, finish was on the 47th kilometer instead of planned 100 kilometers.

Monaco-Dakar. Start has been given!

Multicolored caravan of motorbikes, cars, buggies and trucks are starting their way, full of challenges, in direction to Lake Retba in Dakar. Today, on such a sunny day nobody among the starters from yacht club in Monaco knows exactly, if he manages to reach the target.

Africa Eco Race: checks have been passed!

Today teams and sportsmen are arriving at Monaco, technical and administrative checks are being started. “KAMAZ-master” team and our press-cars have successfully gone through all necessary formalities. Apart from all documents check and hand-out of navigation and satellite tracking tools, organizers pay particular attention to safety issues. Belts and sport seats, desert survival packages are being checked, main aggregators are being sealed.

On 15 December the press-conference of “KAMAZ-master” team was held in the International News Agency “Russia Today”. The conference was devoted to the team’s participation in rallies “Dakar 2016” and “Africa Eco Race 2016”. Its leader Vladimir Chagin, the pilots Airat Mardeev, Anton Shibalov, Andrey Karginov, Eduard Nikolaev, the navigator Andrey Mokeev, the director of advertising and marketing management - vice-president of OJSC VTB BANK  Alexander Erofeev, the head of press of OJSC “KAMAZ”  Oleg Afanasyev, the executive director of RAF Sergey Ivanov took part in the conference.

Anton Shibalov's crew wins the rally "Velikaya Step - Don"

On Sunday the 6th stage of the Championship of Russia "Velikaya Step - Don" came to the end in Volgograd as well as Russian rally-raid racing season.The final stage of the Volgograd race repeated one to one yesterday's SS2 of 146 kilometers long. In "menu" there were fast steppe roads. Unfortunately already at the 9th kilometer of SS3 due to technical problems Dmitry Sotnikov's crew stopped. The crew tried to eliminate independently malfunction, but, most likely yesterday's accident didn't pass without consequences - a technical withdraw, problems with the engine.

The jump of "KAMAZ" was the highlight of the auto show Kazan City Racing

Kazan City Racing - 2015 was held in Kazan on August, 30. The colorful event took place under the walls of the Kazan Kremlin on a dedicated track laid along the Millennium Square. This year, the show became the main event within celebration of the Republic Day. Rainy weather did not frighten motor racing fans; the show gathered about 20 thousand viewers in the estimation of organizers. Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the event.

Since 1993, in the British town of Goodwood under the patronage of Lord March, the tenth Duke of Richmond, the Festival of Speed is held. The event is not a part of the calendar of FIA, or of the list of OICA official dealers. However, each year 190 thousand spectators gather there.

Andrey Karginov's crew wins in rally "Velikaya step-2015"

July 04, Astrakhan The stage of the Championship of Russia on rally raids "Velikaya step-2015" came to the end on July 4 in Astrakhan. In trucks category the event developed according to the scenario familiar to the audience – "KAMAZ-master" team which took the whole podium in the class had no equal again. The crew of Andrey Karginov (pilot), Andrey Mokeev (navigator) and Igor Leonov (mechanic) became the winner of the race.

Navigator day on "Velikaya step"

July03, Elista  Participants unanimously called the third day of the rally "Velikaya step -2015" as a day of navigator. On the eve of the briefing one of the developers of the race route Sergey Talantsev warned participants of the dangers on the 321-kilometer of the special stage: "The main intrigue of the Astrakhan region is that the steppe after spring now actively "blossoms". When we came for reconnaissance, there were still traces of rain, and now it is already hot there, the grass has risen, and the roads in some places seriously were grassed over. It will be especially difficult for the first three cars of leaders".

Three KAMAZ crews are in the lead in trucks category before the final stage of Dakar Rally

Rosario, January 16 Penultimate day of Dakar-2015 didn't bring essential changes to general classification of the race after 12 stages. The winner of the stage Termas-de-Rio-Hondo – Rosario with a special stage of 298 kilometers (total length of a stage 1024 kilometers) became Dutch Hans Stacey (Iveco), the best of Russians Dmitry Sotnikov was the fourth (+1 min 09 sec.), Ayrat Mardeev – the fifth (+1min15 sec.), Andrey Karginov – the sixth (+2min11sec), Eduard Nikolaev – the eighth (+2min47sek). Most of all fans, perhaps, were interested in Stacey-Sotnikov's crews, because now there is a fierce fight for the 5th place between them.

The last day in Atacama

Calama, January 13 At the stage Iquique – Calama Dakar-2015 took the course from the Pacific Ocean for the southeast towards the miner's city of Calama, one of the Chilean centers for copper production. DAKAR. Hot night in Iquique

Iquique, January 9 The gap of KAMAZ crews from the main rivals formed at yesterday's stage Copiapo - Antofagasta didn't reduce heat of fight in trucks category on today's special stage Antofagasta - Iquique. 277-kilometer special stage divided by a 22-kilometer zone of neutralization represented the whole set of various coverings: fine dust fesh-fesh, stony roads and sandy dunes. Race remains rigid and uncompromising, and speeds only increase. For 2 kilometers to the finish line Andrey Karginov's crew breaks down.

Today there was a challenge for assistance, on an entrance to Toueila’s bivouac the gas tank truck was dug. It was difficult to believe that this truck can be pulled out, but it was certain that we will do it.  Wheels were dug strongly, trenches under them became deeper, but the team did its best and every one of us was on the bivouac.

Stage 9. We continue the movement.

Frost and sun. At night it was very cold, but there was absolutely clear sky in the morning and we for the first time saw the sun in Mauritania. Frankly speaking, there were thoughts already that there is no sun on a clear sky in January – there is only dust veil, or grey sky. The first control point was at the intersection of assistance route, but we didn't manage to see ours, by numbers of the approaching cars we understood that ours have already passed this CP.

Dakar 2015: Gerard De Rooy fails at the stage Chilecito - Copiapo

January 7, Copiapo Dakar bivouac in the Chilean Copiapo settled down in the small picturesque valley surrounded with mountains from all sides. On the top they are covered by sand, rocks are visible only in some places. The bright sun and extraordinarily clear blue sky make the picture unreal beautiful. By evening silhouettes of the distant mountain tops closing the horizon and shivering in a hot haze create a sense of presence in some fairyland. There is no plant around.

Stage 8. Exhausting and dangerous.

The bivouac where assistance spent this day waiting for crews, settled down in one of the most fertile places in Mauritania: in this area there are 27 oases that area constitutes 22% of the country's oases. Besides, there is Bin Amir's monolith, the third largest in the world and the local scenery looks really monumental and severe. Sand, stones, pebble and camelthorn. Today competitors had a very difficult stage.

Eduard Nikolaev won a stage of "Dakar-2015"

January 5, San Juan  45 degrees of a heat in San Juan, the second bivouac of Dakar-2015, perhaps it was too severe challenge for participants, organizers, and journalists. The first mountain areas laid at altitudes of about 2000 meters, stony surfaces only aggravated difficulties of today's 331-kilometer high-speed section of Villa Carlos Paz - San Juan. The most part of SS was more than 100 kilometers long descent on which brakes were strongly heated. It was dangerous as the route abounded with fast turns opening on chasms and gorges.

Welcome to Mauritania.

We wake up at 4:30am to pass formalities on borders and to start on the first Mauritian special stage. But all efforts were vain, the stage was cancelled because of a sandy haze, the director's helicopter couldn't get off the ground. It seemed to us that it occurred because of serious delays on Mauritian border. Rally caravan started to pass formalities at about 9 am and even at 19 o'clock they were not over yet.

The Moroccan part of rally marathon "Africa Eco Race" came to the end. It was marked by long passages, late and cold nights and the growing speeds. The cold forced to wake before 6 or 6:30 am and start usual morning affairs. Bivouacs of this year are very similar to those we saw two years ago: the same tents of catering zone, the same gathering of motorcyclists, there are a lot of familiar people, and the same friendly atmosphere.

January 3, Buenos Aires The ceremonial start of "Dakar-2015" took place on January 3 in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. This year the organizers of "Dakar" race continued the tradition to carry out the ceremony of starting podium separately from the actual sports start of the race. The show which began at 2:30 pm local time was delayed till late evening. It would seem that the audience was already tired by the time of the start of the first trucks.

Moroccan test is passed

The organizers reduced today's SS by twenty kilometers: because of the abundance of water the final kilometers have become so viscous that caused serious and quite reasonable doubts about their practicability. Two Russian crews -the crew of Sergey Kupriyanov and the crew of Anton Grigorov took congratulations - they became winners at today's stage.

"KAMAZ-master" team has passed the technical and administrative checks for "Dakar-2015"

Buenos Aires, January 2. The territory of Technopolis in Buenos Aires - it's something like the exhibition of national economy achievements of the Argentine. Today there are a lot of people. Argentine capital is always crowded, but now there isn't enough room to swing a cat. January 4, 36th marathon rally "Dakar" will start from here. Now all participants of the race, the organizers and the accredited press - hundreds of representatives from different countries - pass administrative and technical checks. To get to rally’s route, which passes through the territory of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, each participant must submit a personal file, make photo, get the documents for the car, install navigation equipment, and sports commissioners should carefully check the machine for compliance with the technical regulations of the race.

Africa Race.

It is simply to watch from the sidelines: everything is clear, priorities are clear, no doubts where to go, what to do. It is more difficult to be in a situation. Mistakes are unevident, decisions are multiple-valued, but the experience can’t be developed otherwise. If everything is done well, the conclusion is that there weren’t mistakes and if there was a failure, then, of course, vice versa. But after all not everything is so obvious. You don't make mistakes only if there is already something easy. The persistent aspiration not to make mistakes at all brings to stagnation development– what you will learn if you do only the things that you can already do? In general, a question of mistakes is very subjective and it is possible to discuss on this subject a lot and with pleasure. Our crews passed the new stage today, and of course there were new adventures.

Third stage. Speeds grow.

At the last briefing of 2014 it was declared that there are will be a lot of changes at a tomorrow's stage. Before CP1 there will be very difficult dunes, then there will be a lake, it is necessary to choose very attentively a movement trajectory as it is possible to stick in such a way that it will be very difficult to get out. After the lake the difficult high speed route with the mixed surface: sand, stones, rocks.
