Three KAMAZ crews are in the lead in trucks category before the final stage of Dakar Rally

17.01.2015

Penultimate day of Dakar-2015 didn't bring essential changes to general classification of the race after 12 stages. The winner of the stage Termas-de-Rio-Hondo – Rosario with a special stage of 298 kilometers (total length of a stage 1024 kilometers) became Dutch Hans Stacey (Iveco), the best of Russians Dmitry Sotnikov was the fourth (+1 min 09 sec.), Ayrat Mardeev – the fifth (+1min15 sec.), Andrey Karginov – the sixth (+2min11sec), Eduard Nikolaev – the eighth (+2min47sek). Most of all fans, perhaps, were interested in Stacey-Sotnikov's crews, because now there is a fierce fight for the 5th place between them. According to the results of the day Hans Stacey managed to reduce lag from the Russian to 7 minutes. Knowing the character and piloting skill of Stacey it is clear that tomorrow it will be difficult to Dmitry to constrain the pressure of the Dutch on the last SS of 174 kilometers.

Tomorrow Andrey Karginov has to feel more confidently; yesterday in the interview the Czech pilot Ales Loprais was full of determination to compete with him for the third place in the race and said to the press-attache of "KAMAZ-master" team: "We will meet on a podium!" But, something on the route prevented him to reduce the lag from Andrey Karginov today, details became known later when after a long liaison trucks arrived finally to Rosario. According to witnesses Loprais lost time due to the stop because of a wheel puncture.
