On November 1 at 12:00 local time Russia-wide geographic dictation starts in all regions of the country. The dictation organizers and famous public figures told mass media about importance of the grand-scale educative campaign organized by the Russian Geographical Community first time. The press-conference held in Moscow, International News Agency “Russia Today” on October 26.
The media-council chairman of the Russian Geographical Community D.Peskov, the media-council member of the Russian Geographical Community N.Drozdov, the TV presenter and “Travel club” president M.Kozhuhov, the master of “What? Where? When?” game A.Kozlov, the president of the Interregional Geography Teachers Association of Russia A.Lobzhanidze., the publisher, collector and traveler P.Broshe, and the team leader of “KAMAZ-master”, seven-times Dakar Rally winner V.Chagin took part in that press-conference.
Vladimir Chagin said that he supported the idea to hold the Russia-wide geographic dictation. “I will be excited to take part in it myself and check my knowledge,”- he declared.
In his speech V.Chagin also touched on a topic of the forthcoming Silk Way Rally-marathon 2016: “From Ancient times sport has been the best diplomacy which united peoples. Sport has bridged continents, civilizations and cultures in its unique way. Of course, a lot of people heard about the Russian project Silk Way Rally. International SWR is one of the most interesting sport projects born in Russia in the recent time. The history of the Russian rally started in 2009. The adventure immediately grew international and gained a reputation of one of the most prestigious rally-marathon alongside with Dakar.
Currently we are busy with preparation for the edition in 2016. This race will take place on the territory of friendly countries – Russia, Kazakhstan and China connected with shared past and building up firm friendly relationship.
Time spent on ancient lands along the historical Great Silk Road, won’t only satisfy sports ambitions of racers from different parts the world but supplement significantly their knowledge about world and Russia.
Chagin added he had an excellent mark in Geography at school. “The success prescription is easy. My parents hung an enormous physical map of the world on the wall. My friends and I spent a lot of time together around it. I recommend all parents to take it into consideration,”- advised the famous sportsman.
