The truck of Ayrat Mardeev which yesterday has suffered a crash on the km 386 of the stage San Luis - San Rafael, arrived at the bivouac in San Rafael today in the morning.
As it was already said, KAMAZ followed along the edge of dry river bed. In a very narrow part (on the right side was a mountain, and on the left – edge) due to the mass of the vehicle, the soil has fallen under the wheels and KAMAZ crashed and turned completely onto his roof. Fortunately, the crew wasn’t injured.
Ayrat was in the lead at the first stage and, therefore, he was the first at the start and was ahead of all the trucks. Any other vehicles following on this track first, would have suffered there.
All competitors who were behind Ayrat went round this impassable for trucks place. Despite the fact that the place where Ayrat tipped over was extremely uncomfortable for the evacuation, skillful actions of crews of Farid Badretdinov and Anatoly Tanin managed to set the truck back upright. The crew was at the bivouac in the early morning. At 09:00 am it was ready for the start of the next special stage, but Sport Stewards of the race didn’t allow the crew to start. Perhaps we will have more details this evening. In the moment the truck of Ayrat Mardeev heads to the bivouac in San Juan.
