KAMAZ-master team finished administrative checks for the Silk Way Rally. After the race trucks were left behind the enclosure on Vasilyevsky Spusk in Moscow. Now pilots will be able to seat at the wheel of their vehicles only several minutes before the start on the Red Square on 8 July.
During administrative checks the team members filled the personal forms with personal data, provided license documents, passports and insurance licenses.
According to Airat Mardeev, as the current marathon will go on the territory of China, the race authorities kept in mind specifics of this country. For example, all crews will have to change automobile identification numbers on the Chinese border and get Chinese driving license. The insurance is also prepared for every country where the race takes place.
Administrative checks will definitely include communication with rally doctors. Every participant, organizer and reporter has to provide true data to the medical staff about their health, tell their blood group and allergies for medicine. Apart from that, doctors have a right to know contacts of relatives who they can contact with in case of emergency.
After all administrative checks finished, the team gets rally devices. Every vehicle must have GPS, Iritrack and radio beacon. As commissary told us, Iritrack allows the staff to monitor vehicles via the satellite and constantly control their move. This device allows to emit alarm signals in automatic and manual mode. Automatic signal SOS comes to the staff in case of an accident, turnover and roll-over.
Iritrack in manual mode can help to message about a breakdown or accident. Radio beacon is needed for calling to help if Iritrack is broken.
Airat Mardeev also told that it is given only half an hour to install the devices. After it the vehicles are scrutineered. First they are weighed. Due to the Silk Way Rally Regulations a race truck can’t weigh less than 8,5 tones. The race commissar Sergey Bochkarev told that all contestants must be in equal conditions.
A special role during the scrutineering is given to safety issues. As in any vehicle there should be a fire extinguisher and a medicine box. The crews have to wear uniform and fire-proofed underwear. Moreover, you have to provide certificates for the race clothes. You must not wear clothes which homologation term has been finished.
Apart from that every race vehicle must have a rescue suitcase that includes a signal rocket, knives for cutting belts in case of an accident, reflective vests and a first aid box.
All aggregates of race vehicles which went through the checks, are sealed by commissars so that the sportsmen couldn’t change them. As Airat Mardeev told us, when the vehicles come to the enclosure crews have 15 minutes to leave the vehicle. This time is enough to take all the necessary things. All the vehicles are strictly guarded. Nobody can come to them, even members of the team.
