On June,11 at the online presentation the Dakar Rally organizers and government of the Saudi Arabia told about the race route of 2021.
43rd in the history the Dakar Rally, the same as the previous one, will totally pass on the territory of Saudi Arabia. The race will start in Jeddah on January,3 and finish at the same place on January, 15. The rest day is planned in Ha’il on January, 9.
“The new route is more technical and diverse. Dunes await the contestants from the first to the last SS”, - promise the Dakar organizers.
Also at the presentation they told about novelties in the regulations. After a trial experiment on the Dakar 2020, the race organizers will hand out road books in the morning before the start of every special stage. In some categories digital road books will appear. Amendments were made in the rules, the purpose of which is to decrease speed and increase safety. Sound warnings will appear before entering hard areas, slow zones, and bike and quad riders will have to wear airbag vests.
Moreover, on the rally of 2021 a new category Dakar Classic will appear. The starting line in this category will toe crews on cars and trucks, participated in the Dakar and other huge rally-raids until 2000. Thus, contestants and organizers will pay the tribute to the memory of the Dakar legends.
Applications to contest in the Dakar 2021 will be submitted since June, 15.
