On January 4, 2015 in Buenos Aires capital of the Argentina the legendary rally marathon "Dakar" starts. For the seventh time it will pass in the territory of South America. Three countries will host the race: Argentina, Chile and Bolivia.
At the start of "Dakar" there will be around 450 vehicles from 50 countries. Before the loop on the South American continent and finish in Buenos Aires, the competitors should overcome more than 9000 kilometers of a route from which there are 5000 kilometers of special stages.
"Dakar-2015" will allow drivers and teams to feel the finesse, as well as the unpredictability of off-road races. Cars and trucks which had not taken part in marathon stages since 2005 will be entitled to do so this year. And a few new features have been added, such as the alternate rest days, changing the overall pace of the rally. Chilean city of Iquique, which lies at the northern end of the route, will host the rally bivouac for three days. The race promises to be difficult because some special stages will be laid in mountainous terrain at high altitudes.

Car
The team uses for participation in competitions different modifications of well proven truck KAMAZ-4326 constantly.
For the current year several technical innovations are introduced and developed on all cars. For example, all the cars got the improved brake pneumatic equipment Wabco and Knorr-Bremse with electronic control. Very serious work has been done on improvement of the suspension’s characteristics in terms of reduction of extreme loads on the crew and possibilities of driving at high speeds in difficult road conditions.
In 2014, the organizers of "Dakar" rally severely tightened requirements for engine smoke, besides new regulations limit the engine volume to 16.5 liters that will be imposed in 2016. In this regard, all KAMAZes for the Dakar are equipped with Liebherr engine.
Due to the use of engines with electronic control, there was a possibility to control and transmit the data by CAN network. The upgraded cars got also advanced system "Cruise — Control" for speed control when driving in speed limiting zones and providing the general speed limitation specified by regulations in 140 km/h. The system showed the high efficiency during tests as allows the driver to concentrate on control of surroundings and not to be distracted by speed control.
In order to improve the conditions of the crew in a cabin during competitions in the conditions of "Dakar" rally when temperature in a cabin reaches + 60*C, the air conditioning system is installed on all cars. The test of this system during trainings in Morocco and in Astrakhan showed significant improvement of temperature conditions for the crew.
Despite installation of rather large number of the additional equipment, we managed to keep the total weight of the car close to the minimum weight allowed by technical regulations.

Andrey Karginov was born in the family of one of the founders and promoters of buggy races in Naberezhnye Chelny. At the age of 9 he indulged in carting, several times he became the champion of Tatarstan; he is a Candidate for Master of Sports in this type of racing. Been a schoolboy, and later a student of university, Andrey had a practical training in the KAMAZ research and development center. In general the activity of «KAMAZ-master» team has been familiar to him, and aroused great interest and desire to join the team. So when there was the opportunity to join the team in 2005, it was taken with sincere enthusiasm by Karginov. In 2006 a young sportsman participates as a mechanic at the different stages of the Russian Championship in the same crew with such well-known veterans of the team, as Vladimir Chagin, Semen Yakubov, Aydar Belyaev, Ilgizar Mardeev. In 2007 the young sportsman participated at the stage of the Russian Championship Khazarskie Stepi as a pilot of the race truck. In 2008 Andrey was traumatized, and he had to refuse temporarily to participate in the competitions. In 2010 a young sportsman took part in the rally Dakar for the first time in his sports career. The crew of Ilgizar Mardeev with Andrey as a mechanic took the 5th place. «KAMAZ-master» pins great hopes on Andrey. In 2011, the young pilot was the third on Silk Way Rally, and in 2012, the fourth on Dakar.
In 2010, for the first time in his sports career the young sportsman participated in the international rally Dakar as a mechanic. The crew of Ilgizar Mardeev in which Andrey was a mechanic, took 5th place.
In 2011 A.Karginov already took third place on Silk Way Rally as a pilot, and in 2012 - the fourth on «Dakar».
The crew of Andrey Karginov took third place on the remarkable «Dakar 2013». From the first stages this «Dakar» was testing the strength of the team’s crews. In the second stage Andrey Karginov had problem with the clutch that led to the loss of nearly an hour of precious time to repair it. However, the difficulties of the first stages could not break the strong sporting spirit of his crew. Gradually Andrey Karginov won back lost time. He won 10, 11, 12 and 13 stages, and he finished the fourteenth stage on three wheels!
«Amazing – it is impossible!» - reporters shouted. The crew still could not believe for a long time that they had a real success.
By all accounts the Dakar-2014 has become one of the most difficult in its history. Participants had to overcome 9370 kilometers, including 5,520 kilometers of special stages.
From the very beginning the marathon wasn’t simple for the crews of «KAMAZ-master» team. Only three days before the end of the race Andrey Karginov became a leader in general classification. He had stage by stage, minute by minute to win back lost time at the beginning because of a puncture and the notorious 22 minutes, presented to the main rival Gerard de Rooy by Sports Stewards. One moment was behind the scenes: after one of the stages Karginov fainted from overheating, he was hospitalized and spent the night at a medical bivouac.
Andrey Karginov leads the general classification after 12 stages; he is in front of De Rooy by 7’25”. The clash of titans between Iveco and Kamaz will have been a close one until the very end. But the truth triumphed in the end. At the finish line the overall leader Andrey Karginov is 9'35" behind the Dutchman's Iveco. Andrey Karginov is for about 3 minutes behind Gerard de Rooy in the general classification. This is the second result. Then there is the information on the official website: a lot of competitors were hindered by an accident during the special. Details appear later. 90 km into today's special, China's Zhou Yong made a mistake, sowing chaos as his car crashed and blocked the road before eventually being removed. Gerard De Rooy passed there touching the damaged car, but he didn’t stop to help the crew.
Then the crews of Karginov and Nikolaev arrived and try to put the car on wheels by hand, but it was without success. They managed to set the car back upright just with the help of the truck of Andrey Karginov. The way was unblocked and a traffic jam of race vehicles could continue the way. The need to help the crew 319 is undisputed, and race officials had to deduct some minutes from the time of the KAMAZ №306.
The results of the stage were corrected. Andrey Karginov won his first Dakar by 3′11″ over his rival.

In 1999 Andrey Mokeev was hired by the special vehicles department of the KAMAZ branch for development and new design implementation. Three years later, having demonstrated a good working knowledge of technics and a considerable potential, he took part in Rally d’Orient – Cappadocia as a mechanic in Firdaus Kabirov’s crew. After that he became a constant member of the crew of this prominent racer alongside with the other long-term member of the team – the co-pilot Aydar Belyaev. The hour of triumph of this crew was definitely the Dakar Rally victory in 2005.
In 2009, as a member of Kabirov’s crew, Mokeev took first place at the Dakar Rally and the new international Silk Way Rally Dakar Series which took place in Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Now the experience of Andrey Mokeev is really necessary to the new generation of «KAMAZ-master» team.

Being very responsible, Igor Leonov during the preparation of machines to sporting events can stay day and night in the workplace. At the races, he solves all the problems associated with the electrical systems of sports equipment. Today I. Leonov became not only a great electrician and an expert in his field, but also a professional car repair mechanic. Igor belongs to the category of people that are characterized by physical endurance, psychological stability, the ability to work long hours without sleep or rest, the ability to solve many technical problems that arise during the race and find a way out in any situation.

The youngest member of the «KAMAZ-master» team is nevertheless an experienced sportsman. Being a son of a six-time buggy champion of Russia Valentin Nikolaev, he has been interested in technics and carting since his early childhood, and he still succeeds at carting competitions.
Eduard was invited to join the «KAMAZ-master» team by the team leader Semen Yakubov, who visited the Russian Carting Championship which Eduard won. In 2006 he drove a sports truck for the first time during a stage of the Russian Championship. In 2007 he won the Dakar silver prize as a member of Ilgizar Mardeev’s trio. In summer 2007, as a member of Vladimir Chagin’s crew, he won the Astana Challenge – Silk Road Rally 2007. In 2009 V.Chagin’s crew with Eduard as a mechanic took the second place at the Dakar.
The year 2010 was significant for the young sportsman. 1st place on «Dakar» rally in the crew of V. Chagin and success as a pilot on Silk Way Rally. At the finish of the race the 26-year-old pilot managed to overtake such rally aces like Chagin and Firdaus Kabirov. E.Nikolaev, together with co-pilot V.Mizyukaev and mechanic V.Rybakov become winners of Silk Way Rally - Dakar Series. 2011 - a new step in the career of Eduard. For the first time he goes to «Dakar» as a pilot. The young crew – debutant of the most difficult race in the world, got ahead eminent foreign pilots and took the third place. In 2013 the crew of Eduard Nikolaev is the winner of «Dakar»!

Many know that KAMAZ-master is not a professional sports team; it is a team of designers and manufacturers of machines for use in the most severe conditions. In this sense, sports tasks are only a part of the rich program of its activities. The team creator Semen Yakubov says, «We are sportsmen only one month in the year, all the rest of the time we devote to the design and development.» A perfect example - Yevgeny Yakovlev: he is a co-pilot at the races, and in the real world he is a design engineer. It is no wonder that Yevgeny who is inclined to the exact sciences participates as a co-pilot, because the ability to read diagrams, quick response and the ability to make fast calculations are of great importance when dealing with road-book. Who knows, perhaps, the ability to navigate in space is a sixth sense of Yevgeny: in rare moments of rest, he is very professional and successful spelunk!

Ruslan Akhmadeev is in motorsport since 13 years. He is the winner of the Championship of Russia on motorcycle football. Once during trainings he saw the racing KAMAZ truck and thought that it would be great to ride on it! Recently, a dream comes true. First, in 2012, he got a job in the design-engineering department of the team, and 2 years later tried his hand as a co-pilot. «Inexpressible feelings, because I, as an engine engineer, participate in the design of a sports car, and then I take part on it in competitions. Then you understand what loadings fall on the engine and entire car in general. From Dakar I wait for good impressions and new acquaintances with interesting people.»

Already as a schoolboy Ayrat Mardeev used to stay in the working hall of the «KAMAZ-master» team all day long. He inherited his passion for technics from his father, the renowned rally pilot Ilgizar Mardeev. Ayrat learned sports driving when he took part in carting competitions. He began to drive a cart at the age of 11 and performed so well he soon became winner of nationwide competitions.
Since 2006 A. Mardeev is working in «KAMAZ-master» team. At this time he is engaged in assembling of sports trucks KAMAZ-4911, 4326, their testing and development. During the tests there are often critical situations, both for people and for vehicles. Ayrat, despite his young age, copes with these difficulties. Ability to learn quickly - good feature of Ayrat Mardeev.

In 1991 Aydar Belyaev began to work at KAMAZ as a design engineer of the special vehicles department in the research and development center. He started to prepare KAMAZ trucks for international competitions virtually from the very beginning of his career. Then he headed the highway tractor team which took part in the Europe Touring Car Championship. Since 1994 the KAMAZ sports department concentrated on the preparation for participation in international marathon rallies.
Since 1996 he has been a sports crew co-pilot and has been constantly showing his perfect navigation skills. The job of a sports truck co-pilot is very special. It takes not only flawless knowledge of navigation instruments and the correct «reading» of the route legend, but also a special co-pilot’s intuition to define the correct route which can be thousands of kilometres long and goes completely off-road through sands, mountains, canyons, forests and savannas. For example, during the Paris-Dakar Rally which lasts over two weeks the crew has to travel from 300 to over 1000 kilometres every day. Even a minor mistake of the co-pilot can undermine a many days’ work of the crew. It often happens that after many thousands of kilometres the winner crews’ results differ by few seconds. A navigational mistake means irretrievable loss of time or, in the worst but more common case, an accident with any possible consequences.
In 2002, with the direct participation of Aydar Belyaev the latest model of sports KAMAZ-4911 EXTREME truck was created. The «KAMAZ-mater» team won on it all the subsequent stages in a world Cup on off-road rallies and Dakar races. Aydar Belyaev himself as a co-pilot of sports crew won the bronze medal of transcontinental supermarathon «Telefonica-Dakar 2003», he is also a silver prize-winner of this highest rank of complexity race in 2004, as well as multiple-time winner of the stages of the World Cup and the Russian Rally Championship
Today, Aydar Belyaev, the co-pilot in the «KAMAZ-master» team sports crew, is one of the best co-pilots among the competitors of international rallies. He fully possesses highest professional skills alongside with absolute devotion, strong will and selflessness which he constantly shows under the extreme conditions during every race.

Dmitry Svistunov officially works in «KAMAZ-master» team since 2013, although he started cooperating with it in 2009, when the first Silk Way Rally took place. The fans of the team are used to see him behind the wheel of assistance car. And he is a master of his craft. Not by chance the assistance car was entrusted to Dmitry during the most difficult «Africa Race 2013». But to be considered as a true professional in his field of activity, only practical skills are not enough, that’s why Dmitry do not forget about the theoretical training. In his free time he likes to play Russian billiards. «Billiards - a strategy game, it is in some things similar to «Dakar». It is important to think your moves ahead. I look forward to the start of the marathon. I have participated in the competition of the Championship of Russia, was on trainings in Morocco. But I cannot wait to see the real marathon race from inside of a sports «KAMAZ» truck!

Dmitry Sotnikov was 9 years old when his father the famous sports judge brought him to the section of carting. Father and son didn’t miss a single television broadcast of Formula 1 and WRC. Trajectory of cracking, acceleration and braking, nothing escaped these enthusiastic fans attention. Theory was useful in practice; the result was a prize-winning place of young spotrsman in Russian Carting Competitions. At the age of 15 Dmitry Sotnikov was invited to the junior team of the factory participating in circle races. Dmitry is sure that motorsport develops reaction, quick thinking, makes a man purposeful. He continues to improve his skills in the category Auto. In 2010 Dmitry Sotnikov became the winner of the Russian Championship in a buggy.
Dmitry Sotnikov belongs to the new generation of «KAMAZ-master» team, which strongly asserts himself. At the rally-marathon «Africa Race» experienced rivals were surprised how young guys who had passed only Championships of Russia and Silk Way Rally professionally acts. Guys not just accomplished basic tasks - improving sports skills, not just demonstrated generosity and courage, but also got an outstanding result. It was not easy. What did it cost to overtake three-time winner of Dakar, two-time winner of Africa Race Tomas Tomecek who quarter-century overcomes rally-marathon routes. The young crew of «KAMAZ-master» conceded only to the legendary «Desert Fox» Jean-Louis Schlesser. «Africa Race» as «Dakar 2013» demonstrated the success of the young generation of «KAMAZ-master» team, where Dmitry Sotnikov is the bright representative. In the summer of 2013 at Silk Way Rally Dmitry’s crew took first place.

People working in «KAMAZ-master» team are multiple personalities; they take a great interest in different occupations. Let’s take an example of Igor Devyatkin - sambo and aircraft construction there are only some of his hobbies. In addition since his early childhood Igor is keen on music, he professionally plays a trumpet, and he studied even at the Sofia Conservatory! Perhaps he could play in a popular jazz-band, but the love to the technics led him to the «KAMAZ-master» team. The choice of the boy was affected by the example of his parents who arrived in Naberezhnye Chelny in order to participate in the construction of the automobile factory KAMAZ. The basics of technical skills were imparted by Igor’s father, who was an engineer. Surprisingly Devyatkin managed to combine study in the music school with the work in the studio, where he constructed motorcycles, and then water-jet-powered boats. A young sportsman is fascinated by the result oriented atmosphere and atmosphere of creation reigning in the «KAMAZ-master» team. «You feel part of a single powerful mechanism, and where the overall success of the team depends on your efforts too», - Igor Devyatkin says.
