International Silk Way Rally 2022 is starting already on Thursday. And on Tuesday in Astrakhan the competitors took part in test rides. KAMAZ-master crews, with the current winner in the truck classification Dmitry Sotnikov, Eduard Nikolaev, Andrey Karginov and Sergey Kupriyanov, left for the final pre-start checks of sports vehicles.
On the track, prepared by the organizers under conditions that do not differ from a real race, KAMAZ-master team could again verify reliability of the trucks and test modifications, made before the start of the SWR. During the test runs, two KAMAZ-435091 trucks of the K5 family, the time-tested KAMAZ-43509, as well as a new vehicle, using a gas-diesel fuel, drove several test laps, after which the team's engineers stated their full readiness for one of the most difficult rally-raids in the world.
Also, a colorful Russian-Chinese crew, consisting of Hou Hongning, Shen Xin and engineer Robert Amatych, took part in the tests as well. After the race, the racers, who start in the Grand Tour category "Following Peter the Great", took part in a photo session and answered questions of journalists.
On Wednesday, members of KAMAZ-master team will pass administrative checks, and the racing vehicles will undergo a technical inspection, after which they will be allowed to start the Silk Way Rally.
