The weather strongly influenced the plans of the Silk Way Rally authorities. Because of the heavy rains they had to delete the second special that linked Kazan and Ufa. The rain washed out the road and nobody was sure that the participants would overcome the mud.
Despite that situation, fans waited for a festival. We met with KAMAZ-master fans in Pestrechinsky region of the Tatarstan Republic, where they went from Naberezhnye Chelny just to support their favorite team on the start. But when they learned that KAMAZ-master crews will drive on the federal highway and stop in Naberezhnye Chelny to greet the fans, they went back.
In the native city of the team, thousands of fans met the caravan of the Silk Way Rally. Citizens went to the streets that were decorated with flags of the race and where race cars and trucks were to go. The rally lovers wished them a good rally and were happy that the international marathon went through Naberezhnye Chelny.
When KAMAZ-master crews were driving along the streets, fans didn’t hide their feelings. The mayor of the city Nail Magdeev said in his speech about his big love to the team. He said that “they are heroes of our town and our country and he is sure that KAMAZ-master wins.”
After a warm welcome at home “the Blue Armada” took a course to Ufa. After a long liaison the sportsmen had only a few hours to gain strength and by 5 a.m. of July, 11 be ready for a new special.
The Silk Way Rally crews will leave Russia and start their journey in Kazakhstan. During the third stage a 200-kilometer special section on the country roads awaits the contestants. However they have to overcome another record liaison. In general they will overcome more than 800 kilometers to the bivouac in Kostanay.
