On Sunday, almost three weeks after the flight to the Dakar 2022 KAMAZ-master team returned to Russia. In the afternoon the plane landed in the capital airport Domodedovo, where the race winners were met by dozens of mass media representatives, friends, relatives and fans in conditions of upholding coronavirus restrictions.
The Head of KAMAZ-master team Vladimir Chagin gave a speech to the gathered audience: “We are very happy that all two weeks you were together with us and supported us. We felt it. And our trucks broke down more rarely than of our rivals. The new K5 trucks did not lose a single second on the route due to technical problems. Everyone saw that our KAMAZ trucks are not only the fastest on the off-road but the most reliable as well.”
Vladimir Chagin has also said about decent performance of all KAMAZ-master crews and marked success of Dmitry Sotnikov, who won in the Dakar the second time in a row. “The crew has worthily drove in the race and continued the pleiad of victories that started last year. Less of all he lost time on the race areas – only 26 minutes out of 41 hours”, - emphasized Chagin.
The two-time winner of the rally-marathon thanked fans for support throughout the whole race. “We have missed everyone and look forward to coming home. Yesterday we had a short rest, the last race was hard. We have recharged energies and will prepare to further races”, - said Dmitry Sotnikov.
After the official ceremony drivers and crew members spoke with journalists, gave autographs to their fans. A special excitement of people was caused by the Dakar trophies – Golden Bedouins. Now they will take an honorable place in the collection of racers in KAMAZ-master museum. To Naberezhnye Chelny the team will return after midnight on Monday.
