The President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Alexander Zhukov presented to the "KAMAZ-master" team the Olympic Torch. The presentation took place in ROC building in Moscow during the meeting devoted to the forthcoming start of the team in rally raids "Dakar" and "Africa Eco Race".
"This is to remember Olympic Games in Sochi in the run-up to which you became the first torchbearers. We wish you good luck next year and we expect to win", - Zhukov told.
Other Russian competitors of "Dakar" rally-marathon also participated in a meeting. Sportsmen told about the main peripeteias of multi-day rallies marathons. The driver of quad Sergey Karyakin noted that the "KAMAZ-master" team is always ready to come to the rescue in a difficult situation and in general the Russian sportsmen act in a cohesive way during race.
During the conversation the head of the team Vladimir Chagin noted that competitive practice this year was insufficient due to cancellation of Silk Way Rally 2014, and express his hope that next year the start of the race which is already nicknamed "Russian Dakar" will take place.
The head of ROC noted that at the general coherence of the parties the route of Silk Way Rally can include the territory of China. "Idea in my opinion is very good. It is possible to make very long rally raid. If there is an interest, the idea can be realized", - Alexander Zhukov told, responding to the proposal of sportsmen to organize Silk Way Rally along a route Moscow-Beijing.
