On January 25, 16 of the country's strongest racers - champions and winners of the Russian Cup, Formula 1, drift, rally, circuit racing and karting racers - competed on the ice track near Togliatti in the Race of Champions, getting behind the wheel of identical LADA cars. Most of the debutants in the discipline did not pass the group stage, only the head of the KAMAZ-master team Eduard Nikolaev managed to do so, reaching the quarterfinals, where he lost only to the experienced Kirill Ladygin, who eventually became the winner of the race.

Eduard Nikolaev noted that the KAMAZ-master team plans to participate in the Race of Champions next year: "We will participate, since everything calls for it. The race does not overlap with any of our competitions. The pilot must drive everything. The Race of Champions probably cannot be compared with a rally, since there we build a two-week race more tactically. Here, from the very first training session, from the first meters, we need to start fighting for each second."
