"Nobody expected this from "KAMAZ" - that is, perhaps, the general key-note of journalistic reports from Moscow City Racing show passed in Moscow on July 12. "A pilot of the Russian "KAMAZ-master" team Eduard Nikolaev and legendary veteran of "Formula 1" Jean Alesi became the main heroes of the show, "ITAR-TASS writes. Really, drifting of large-tonnage truck by the winner of "Dakar 2013" left a lasting impression on the audience gathered in this day at center of Moscow.
Seventh auto show Moscow City Racing held on Saturday near the Kremlin. Thousands of Muscovites got involved in this sports auto event.
Naturally, the organizers could not ignore the future significant events in Russian motorsport. Exhibition hall "Motordrome of Sochi", dedicated to the first in the history of Russia Grand Prix "Formula 1" was opened for visitors on Vasilevsky descent July 10 and 11. Teams of Formula 1 were represented in Moscow by Marc Gené test pilot of "Ferrari" and Robin Frijns test pilot of "Caterham".
At the same time on Bolotnaya Square and Vasilevsky descent the autograph signing session of "KAMAZ-master" pilots were organized and also free access to the bivouacs of the team was opened for visitors. Numerous meetings with partners took place. Before the event Moscow City Racing participants signed an appeal to Russian drivers on compliance with road regulations.
Saturday became the culmination of a three-day "marathon", when the performance of the best Russian and foreign riders took place. Drift on the off-road truck - this is another know-how of "KAMAZ-master" team, which never ceases to amaze his fans. "KAMAZ-master" team leader Vladimir Chagin was pleased with the performance of his guys: "We repeatedly participated in the MOSCOW CITY RACING which became traditional event. This is a real festival for the Russian fans of motorsport and Formula 1. Skills of pilots, the aesthetics of fast and beautiful cars, the inexpressible drive and the atmosphere of the international sports festival can’t leave indifferent anybody!
Performance in the heart of the capital - it is always a privilege and a great responsibility. And though our truck is designed to overcome off roads, I am glad that at the center of Moscow, we were able to show its uniqueness to the audience."
Eduard Nikolaev himself admitted that he was worried before the race: "It’s a great responsibility to drive next to enormous number of people. The road is very narrow for the truck. In addition, due to the heat the adhesion of wheels with asphalt was specific. But in the end everything turned out. Spectators had enthusiastic mood. It was very nice to see such a reaction of people. I want to note the good organization of the event. Very friendly atmosphere between sportsmen was felt. We communicated with legends such as Jean Alesi. It would seem disciplines far from each other - Formula 1 and rally raids, but in fact everybody is well aware of the competition in trucks category and the successes of our "KAMAZ-master" team at races "Dakar" and "Silk Way Rally".
